Floreffe Prima Melior
After secondary fermentation in the bottle in the purest tradition of Floreffe’s abbey beers, it has a very deep, almost black colour with a brown head. The nose, combining aniseed, liquorice, roast aromas and white fruits, is exceptionally rich and refined. The power of the ingredients is obvious from the first sip, expressed in coffee and grilled cocoa bean flavours.
Full, a lot of ripe fruit, raisins, plums. The soft yeast of La Chouffe comes nicely buttery through it. The hops are well hidden under this violence, but at the same time do not forget to provide the whole with a necessary bitter edge. The whole is sweet, almost caramelous. What the nose comes in is black pepper, apricots, and again that spicy that the brewer has become famous with.
Jopen North Sea IPA
IPA was extra heavily brewed during the time of long voyages and hopped extra so that it could be drunk in the colonies. The IPA has returned to Europe through the American Craft Beer Revolution. Jopen Mooie Nel IPA has a fruity hop flavor and a lot of bitterness from the American hops. Also in the Netherlands we had our version of the IPA or 'duraebel ship beer' for the Dutch East Indies. Jopen Mooie Nel IPA is named after the water between Haarlem and Spaarndam and is called North Sea IPA outside the Netherlands.
La Chouffe, a Belgian blond beer that was first brewed in 1982 by the brothers in law Pierre Gobron and Chris Bauweraerts. It started as a hobby, which gradually grew into the brewery / distillery and tavern Brasseried'Achouffe. La Chouffe is an unfiltered blonde beer that undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle or cask. It is a pleasant fruity beer, spiced with coriander and a light hop flavor.
